From October 20th to 21st, the Parcel, Express and Logistics Business Unit of China Post Group held a meeting in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, to promote the development of postal logistics in high-tech industries. The meeting proposed to take the logistics supply chain service as the starting point to enhance the original customer-acquisition capability, and take the high-tech industries as the pilot to facilitate the transformation and upgrading of logistics business.
The meeting pointed out that the supply chain business has become a new growth point of the industry competitors in the delivery market, while the comprehensive solution of the whole chain is the core competitiveness of the supply chain service. Therefore, the prerequisite for achieving differentiation and leading strategies is to focus on key industries and become a service expert in the industry. China Post has strong logistics service capabilities in different links of the supply chain of the high-tech industries, such as inbound logistics, finished product logistics, reverse logistics, etc. As one of the four major parts of the delivery business, the postal logistics has been oriented towards customers’ demands and has focused on providing solutions for customers for more than ten years, serving a number of industry leaders such as Huawei, Apple, Dell, HP, China Mobile and Sinotruk (China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Corp), etc. Provincial postal branches have implemented project-based and simulated entity operation, and gradually improved the efficiency of the logistics business based on profit and loss. Client marketing in high-tech industries, one of the key targets for logistics development, has also made great progress.
The meeting proposed that postal logistics should give full play to the synergy advantages and provide comprehensive service for customers. Postal logistics should transform from extensive and empirical development to the industry best practice methodology, summing up the experience of industry projects in leading provincial branches to form best practices, replicating and spreading them rapidly, thus driving general progress among postal logistics companies in the whole country. The development pattern of the postal logistics should be transformed to a standardized and normalized way so that clients from the same industry can get logistics service in the same operational standard and norm. Finally, its operation should be transformed and upgraded from manual and semi-automatic methods to information, automation, digital, and intelligent ones. The postal logistics should strengthen the training of teams in supply chain marketing, project management and warehouse management, attach importance to the corresponding system and mechanism innovation and talent support of supply chain business, succeeding in switching from following strategy to surpassing strategy in high-tech industries first, and improving market competitiveness of supply chain business in key industries.
During the meeting, participants visited the Huawei warehouse in Chengdu to learn about its operation. The Logistics Department of the Parcel, Express and Logistics Business Unit of China Post Group made specific arrangements for original customer acquisition and project operation in the high-tech industries.
